Additional head on ablation flutter line12/30/2023 ![]() These structures provide anatomical or functional barriers of conduction, which allow for depolarization through a protected zone of slow conduction and propagation of the arrhythmia. The CTI is bounded anteriorly by the tricuspid annulus and posteriorly by the inferior vena cava Eustachian ridge ( Figure 2.1). For this chapter, we refer to both typical and reverse forms collectively as AFL.Īn understanding of CTI anatomy and physiology is fundamental for ablation of AFL. “Reverse typical flutter” is defined as using the same anatomic circuit but propagating in the clockwise direction. 3 CTI-dependent, right atrial (RA) macroreentrant tachycardia in the counterclockwise direction of propagation around the tricuspid annulus is defined as “typical” AFL. 2 In 2001, a consensus document recommended standardized terminology for AFL. Specifically, these terms have been used to characterize the flutter circuits based on direction of conduction around the tricuspid annulus ( counterclockwise or clockwise), whether it is right- or left-sided, whether its conduction is dependent upon the CTI ( isthmus-dependent and non-isthmus dependent), or a combination of these factors ( typical, reverse typical, atypical, type 1, type 2). Since its discovery in 1920 by Sir Thomas Lewis, 1 numerous terms have been used to describe AFL. For these reasons, catheter ablation of typical AFL is one of the most common procedures performed in invasive cardiac EP. Ablation can also be performed without advanced EP laboratory equipment such as electroanatomic mapping, intracardiac ultrasound, or non-contact mapping catheters, although these tools can be useful in complex cases or when the diagnosis is difficult to establish. Catheter ablation of typical flutter is generally straightforward and success rates are high, while complication rates are quite low. Even when AFL presents in the absence of AF or structural heart disease, it may have serious adverse effects, including stroke and systemic embolism, extreme tachycardia, myocardial ischemia, pulmonary venous congestion, tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. AFL may be an isolated arrhythmia or occur in conjunction with atrial fibrillation (AF). AFL is common and relatively refractory to medical therapies for rate and rhythm control. Typical atrial flutter (AFL) is a right atrial macroreentrant arrhythmia dependent upon conduction across the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI). Therefore, optimally, both methods should be used concomitantly. How to Ablate Typical and Reverse Atrial Flutter However, when combined with the activation mapping technique, it provided additional information regarding isthmus conduction properties in some cases. On-site, clear-cut, widely spaced double atrial potentials and activation mapping suggesting CBIB were concomitantly observed in only 47 patients (54%), and ambiguous/atypical double potentials were recorded in 31 patients (39%).Īlthough feasible, the on-site atrial potential analysis seemed to be inferior to the classic activation mapping technique, mainly because of the ambiguity of electrogram interpretation along the ablation line. In successful patients, the mean radiofrequency delivery duration was longer in group II (845+/-776 versus 534+/-363 s P:=0.03). The CBIB criterion was retrospectively searched using the alternative technique at the end of the procedure. Criteria for CBIB using on-site atrial potential analysis was the recording of parallel, widely spaced double atrial potentials along the ablation line. In 76 consecutive patients (mean age, 63.4+/-10.5 years), typical atrial flutter ablation was performed using either the activation mapping technique (group I) or on-site atrial potential analysis (group II). The study was designed to compare these 2 techniques prospectively regarding the diagnosis of CBIB. Mapping only the ablation line ("on-site" atrial potential analysis) was recently reported as a means of CBIB identification. Complete bidirectional isthmus conduction block (CBIB) was initially assessed by sequential detailed activation mapping at both sides of the ablation line during proximal coronary sinus and anteroinferior right atrium pacing.

Curt flood made agency possible other12/30/2023 Marvin Miller, the head of the fledgling union, warned Flood that a legal challenge of the reserve clause would almost certainly fail. He marshaled the help of a personal attorney and then the players’ association. Once his anger subsided, Flood decided to sue. ![]() Under the reserve clause, his only choices in the matter were to accept the new assignment or not play. It proved prescient.Īt season’s end, Flood got a phone call from an underling of the general manager, a man he described as a “mid-level front office coffee drinker.” The short conversation was notice of his trade to the Phillies. Louis, where he’d flourished after a trade early in his career. ![]() Flood told friends that he could see the end coming in St. Gussie Busch, the owner of the Cardinals, began the following spring with a condescending lecture to the players, who had just boycotted camp over a pension dispute. That treatment hastened his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement.įlood’s relationship with the Cardinals slowly began souring after a misplay in Game 7 of the 1968 World Series led to a crushing loss to the Tigers. He was barred from lodging or even dressing with his white teammates. His first spring training in Florida was not only an introduction to pro ball it was also his first meeting with Jim Crow. That changed when he signed with the Reds. He grew up in Oakland, Calif., where he was shielded from the most jagged edges of racism. On the bottom left was a line drawing of paintbrushes and a palette.īy Christmas Eve, Flood’s resolve had been steeled by a career spent accumulating grievances. The name of the business was flanked one side by a stylized script version of his initials, and on the other by the address of a tidy colonial that housed the business. Teammates called him “Rembrandt,” hence his elaborate letterhead. In August of 1968, the cover of Sports Illustrated featured a photo of Flood suspended in the air, seemingly enmeshed in midsummer ivy at Wrigley Field the caption declared him “baseball’s best centerfielder.”įlood preferred stylish clothes, dated an actress, and basked in the attention that came from his oil paintings. “He looked like a dancer when he was playing,” Pace said last week. He was nearing the end of a 12-year run with the Cardinals that would include three National League pennants, two World Series championships, three all-star game selections and seven consecutive Gold Glove Awards. Louis, he became the front man for the newly-formed Curt Flood & Assoc., Inc., a commercial art and photography enterprise. In 1967, at the height of his prominence in St. The letterhead itself signaled what Curt Flood had achieved - and what he was about to give up - when he chose to upend the whole system. “The letter is brilliant,” said Flood’s widow, the actress Judy Pace. Five decades on, the document still offers hints of strength, vulnerability and courage. They stand as the opening skirmish of a battle that led to free agency and changed professional sports. They hold significance within the context of the nation’s civil rights movement. “After twelve years in the Major Leagues,” the opening line reads, “I do not feel that I am a piece of property to be bought and sold irrespective of my wishes.”įlood’s words have since been analyzed and anthologized by scholars. The first step had to be a public declaration of his freedom. Instead, he resolved to challenge the injustice in court, despite knowing that his odds of victory were slim and that the fight would cost him his career. ![]() But because baseball’s longstanding reserve clause gave teams total control of its players, Flood’s only recourse would have been to quit. Flood had been traded from the Cardinals to the Phillies. Curt Flood sent the letter 50 years ago today, on Christmas Eve, to baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn.

Safe exam browser reddit12/30/2023 ![]() Pretty much everything we develop we share out to the other K-12 school districts so that they can benefit too. Wayne RESA provides free moodle hosting and setup to every public school district in Wayne County, Michigan based off our "recipe" for Moodle. We partner and provide Moodle advice (Our theme, enrollment plugin, and setup enhancements) to our Intermediate school district, Wayne County RESA. Our next deployment would be to provide this solution to all of Wayne County K-12 School districts here in Michigan. This is little more involved than just a moodle plugin. There are a lot of things to consider before pushing this out and people expecting help. Right now we are just focused on making sure teachers are happy with it. Just install and let teachers decide if a quiz requires the App or not. The Moodle plugin is simple and easy to use. The app wouldn't work unless it was properly deployed. They'd just have to configure before deploying. If we push the app out to the store then people wouldn't have to publish their own app. The app does require configuration to setup the URL for the moodle site and all the security settings. We've discussed putting the App in the Chromebook store and then providing the configurator for deployment to all the managed devices. turning the assessment into a powerful learning activity!), and to help harness the tool to help further the goal of making learning the focal point of using technology without all of the distractions and possible downsides of using an electronic vs. we had a geology teacher give a partner lab quiz where students worked in pairs testing out mineral samples with lab equipment for hardness, reactivity with acids, etc., but use Moodle to give immediate feedback, allow students to re-test for partial credit if they made a mistake, etc. I agree with you that teachers like having this feature to secure quizzing in Moodle-it makes them much more comfortable to experiment with things like mastery learning (allow students to retake quizzes / assignments / exams to learn from mistakes), leveraging Moodle to enhance real-life assessments (e.g. It looks like you guys took what Colin had done with getting SEB to work as a Chromebook Kiosk app, and extended it even further with your customizations (audio feedback, whitelisting, etc.). ![]() If you are looking for a guinea pig, I'd be happy to test it out for you and give you feedback before you push it out to the Moodle community, and could help with any documentation as another "set of eyes". Wow-that's looks really cool what you guys have built and I can see why your teachers are excited, especially with the nice work you and your team have done with the Fordson Theme!!! Since this is a bit more involved than just a plugin we don't know what level of support we'd be able to offer beyond offering it up for free which is making us nervous to release it. Obviously there would be a plugin submitted for a Quiz Restriction at and we'd include the link to the github for the Chromebook App. Initial feedback from teachers is that it works amazingly well! We are currently using/piloting this with our staff and we are looking to open source this but we are a bit busy and need to do some work on it before releasing it. Once activated the quiz can only be accessed via the Chromebook App. We added a drop-down menu that has "Require iLearn Secure Browser" or "Do not require iLearn Secure Browser". ![]() Simply open up a Quiz Settings page and go to Extra Restrictions. We built a Moodle plugin which requires the user to be using the Chromebook app to take the quiz. User only needs to login to the moodle site within the App. No login to the actual chromebook is required. Can be forced to launch the App on devices when first turned on or can be launched prior to logging in. ![]() The only pathway is forward and you must complete the quiz and turn off the chromebook when done with the test. Once you start a quiz attempt you cannot leave the quiz module in Moodle.Launching the App generates a sound which can signal the teacher someone has left and re-entered the test.Whitelist and Blacklist of allowed URLs ( We block all external content inside the app and only allow content from: the Moodle site, youtube, and Wiris plugin. Two Parts: Chromebook App and Moodle Quiz Restriction plugin.Easy to use and deploy in large organizations with thousands of chromebooks. We were able to deploy this app to all chromebooks in minutes with the configurator which allows for customization and a few security tweaks before deployment. So we built our own Chromebook App called 'iLearn Secure Browser" that takes control of the Chromebook and eliminates all kinds of cheating. Unfortunately many of the safe exam browsers either cost a lot of money or required laptops with Windows or OS X. We are a Google for Education K-12 school district with over 17,000 managed Chromebooks dispersed amongst 34 building across the city.

Acrylic painting for beginners on canvas12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() An 8″ x 10″ canvas will cost you only around $5!įor acrylic painting, we use synthetic paint brushes, because acrylics can damage natural bristles. THE BEST CANVAS TO BUY for acrylic painting for a beginner – Blick Premier Cotton Canvas – best quality with really unique properties and a very appealing price. That’s why, for beginners, I recommend starting with a pre-stretched canvas. Stretching requires knowledge, time, and patience. Stretching is a process to put a canvas on the stretcher bars, to make sure the surface is evenly smooth and tight! A saggy canvas can ruin your whole masterpiece. Without priming, the canvas will soak too much water or paint. Priming is necessary to achieve needed paint adhesion to canvas, it smooths and “seals” the painting surface of raw canvas. Linen is rough, higher quality, more expensive than cotton, and best for larger scales and professional artists.Ĭhoose the size and shape you want, if you start painting, buy pre-primed and pre-stretched canvas.100% cotton is the most popular canvas, it is cheaper, has great quality, is best for beginners, and may not be suitable for large paintings. If not, keep reading and we will go through the essentials.Ģ main fabrics for canvas are cotton and linen. If you still want to dig in and learn as much as you can about weaves, stretching, and all canvas brands, I have this big and comprehensive article for you on choosing canvas. If you start researching canvases you’ll be overwhelmed in a minute, because there are so many alternatives! You can always purchase any color individually. TOP-3 acrylic paint sets for beginners:ġ) Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paint - Best Sellers Set of 24,Ģ) Golden Heavy Body Artist Acrylic Set of 6 andģ) Winsor & Newton Beginners Acrylic Set of 10 Golden Heavy Body Liquitex Basic Winsor & Newton If you buy only 6 colors, you will be either very limited in what you can create, and you will learn how to mix the paint by yourself (which is a pro-level skill). When you just start painting, you can simply purchase an acrylic paint set of 6-12-24 colors to make it easier for you. Winsor & Newton acrylic paints are one of my favorite along with Liquitex and Golden. I reviewed 20+ acrylic paint brands for your convenience and to help you make a decision! Normally, a thin layer of acrylic dries in 5-20 minutes. It also means that acrylic is fast-drying because the process of drying is a simple process of water evaporation. It means, to make paint more fluid, we can easily add some water – this process is called thinning. Can You Use Acrylic Paint on Wood? Skyquest xt812/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Orion’s XT8 rocks an 8-inch aperture that’s equally suited for moon watching, planet observation, and diving into (some realms) of the deep space. Its light gathering ability isn’t in question, and when you combine the telescope with accessories like a Barlow lens and some eyepieces, you should be able to spot a good variety of different celestial objects. This is helped by a red dot sight, though it can still take a little time. Here are the main specs of the XT8 telescope:ĭesign type: Dobsonian Telescope | Aperture: 8 inches | Focal Length (FL): 1200 | Focal Ratio (FR): f/6 | Optical Coating type: Aluminum and Silicon dioxide | Lowest magnification: 29x | Highest magnification: 300x | Finder type: Red Dot | Mount type: Standard Dobsonian Mount | OTA Length (in inches): 46.5 | OTA Weight (in pounds): 20.3 | Total weight (in pounds): 41Īs with many Dobsonians, the most difficult thing you’ll have to do with the telescope is set it up. It rocks a 2-inch single-speed Crayford style focuser, a Red-Dot finder for convenience, and Aluminum and Silicon Dioxide optical coatings that deliver nearly unparalleled quality of its optical elements. Orion’s SkyQuest XT8 telescope ‘hides’ numerous state-of-the-art technologies and features that are invisible to the naked eye. So, why don’t we take a little bit closer look to see what it actually has to offer in terms of performance? Manufacturer specs Overall, there are dozens of things to like even at first glance. So for an average weight, it has a surprisingly good build quality to match. Upon closer inspection, you’d realize that it actually weighs only 41 pounds, which isn’t terrible for a telescope of its size. This telescope does look pretty huge, and it’s more than safe to assume that it weighs a ton. In terms of aesthetics, Orion’s SkyQuest XT8 looks exactly like its predecessor it features a Dobsonian Reflector design and a large 8-inch aperture (improved by 2 inches in comparison to XT6), superb 48x magnification, and it retained all the great features XT6 packs, such as 300x top theoretical magnification, long tubing, and sturdy construction. It’s pretty safe to say that XT8 picked up where XT6 left off and filled the room left for improvements, and is the perfect telescope to pick up if you’re trying to pick out star clusters in the night sky. The main area where it lacks is in aperture, as although a 6 inch aperture is fine for getting started with, it probably isn’t going to be enough to see deep sky objects.Īside from this, the two telescopes are quite similar, and they can both be used to get some great views of the night sky. Most people who’ve used the Sky Quest XT8 loved it it was a classic telescope outfitted with a myriad of top-quality features, but it seemed to be lacking in a few areas before we could label it as ‘perfect’. It’s fairly simple and straightforward to use, and it’s ideal for viewing deep sky objects. This is the most common XT secondary configuration. The truth is that the Skyquest XT8 is a solid telescope that works well for the majority of people that use it.
